Abstract:

Hungarolingua Grammatica is primarily for learners of Hungarian who, in addition to the linguistic skills they acquire in class, also need a systematic explanation of the grammatical features of the language. The book pays special attention to questions that appear to be most difficult for learners of Hungarian, and mainly focuses on features which are important in practice. The book gives a detailed description of the sounds of Hungarian, their oppositions, and alternations. It deals systematically with Hungarian word forms, with the rules governing the combination of root words and the numerous suffixes, as well as with the processes of word formation. The section on syntax offers guidance on the syntactic rules governing morphological categories.
